Marinette County approves funds to support City of Marinette Airboat after reconsideration

Very last thirty day period the Marinette County Board of supervisors authorized contributing $43,900 to the Town of Marinette towards the order of a new 24 ft look for and rescue airboat with the caveat that the county be in a position to use the airboat. Nonetheless, at yesterday’s County Board meeting a motion was introduced forth by Supervisor Allen to rethink motion taken by the County board to transfer the $43,900 to the Town of Marinette for order of the Airboat. Given that the Metropolis of Marinette has recently allotted $500 for each personnel for COVID-19 vaccinations working with ARPA cash when they could have used their ARPA money toward the funding of the airboat instead of asking the County for funding. County Administrator John Lefebvre claims, “the Metropolis of Marinette received $1.1 million in ARPA funding.”
Supervisor Ken Keller suggests, “there is a motive why the metropolis is looking for participation in the buying of the airboat.”
After a lengthy discussion, the board voted, and it came in at 14 in favor of the airboat to 13 not in favor. The predicted shipping and delivery day of the airboat is mid-January.
